Are you experiencing pain from arthritis?

Arthritis is the inflammation of a joint, resulting in joint pain and dysfunction. However, what you may not know, is that it’s not one singular disease. In fact, there are hundreds of types of arthritis, with the most common types being:

  1. Osteoarthritis (OA) – often resulting in joint pain through the hands, spine, knees and hips; osteoarthritis is the most common variety experienced throughout the U.K. Known as the ‘wear and tear’ arthritis, you can be predisposed to it if you have a family history of OA. However, family history of OA is not necessary in order to encounter it during your lifetime.
  2. Rheumatoid arthritis – although less common than osteoarthritis, this variation still affects a large portion of the population. It is an autoimmune and inflammatory disease, where the body’s immune system attacks healthy cells by mistake. Therefore resulting in joint damage, which can lead to inflammation, pain and deformity.
  3. Gout – another autoimmune disease, gout occurs as a result of too much uric acid in the body. This can cause several symptoms such as joint pain, redness and for some people – extreme swelling for instance.
  4. Spondyloarthritis – this is a form that affects the spine, and sometimes the arms and legs. It presents as lower back pain for many patients, but symptoms can differ between cases.
  5. Fibromyalgia – A widespread pain that affects the whole body. This form of arthritis can cause stiffness, pain, fatigue, depression, headaches, sleeping problems and more.

Osteopathy for arthritis pain

Whether you’re suffering from osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune issue or perhaps a variety not listed above; the good news is, osteopathy may help.

The stiffness and joint pain associated with arthritis can remove any desire to move and exercise. However, with the assistance of your osteopath here at our Rainham or Maidstone clinics, we’ll get you moving again with less pain.

Most importantly, your osteo here at Tim Wood Healthcare will work with you to decrease your pain. We’ll use a combination of hands-on osteopathic techniques such as soft tissue massage and mobilisation, as well as exercise rehabilitation programs to get you moving safely. Our holistic, whole-body approach will allow your joints to release and move freely, decreasing pain and inflammation in the process.

My first session with Eliza was so great! She was so friendly and reassuring, she made me feel confident the issue will improve after a few more sessions and some exercises at home. Looking forward to the next session and hopefully soon being pain free. Thank you!

This was my 1st visit and Matt was very professional and understanding with my back problem. He was very informative in what he was doing, explaining everything as he was going. Always asking if I had any questions. He told me what my issues were and what treatments I required. Very highly recommended. Excellent service throughout. Thank you Matt.

I was able to get a suitable appointment very quickly. I was seen promptly and after discussing my back issue and an examination of the area I was offered some immediate treatment, which I am hoping will provide some relief. I was happy to book my next appointment too.

My wife and I went to see Matt for various back and leg problems. Matt is amazing, putting us at ease from arriving. He took detailed notes of our symptoms and then explained his findings in an easy to understand manner with the help of the skeleton. We received light exercises to do every day. Update: After just 3 sessions with Matt my sciatica pain is almost non existent. Thanks Matt for your help and care

Have been seeing Tim Wood for some time now. Ongoing back problems since my thirties. Previously travelling to Bexleyheath for ten years to see an osteopath. Extremely happy with the treatment received at the Rainham Clinic. Now 73yrs and need to keep gardening plus I have an allotment so I need to keep active.

I was very sick last year with mobility issues and lingering pain on my back that made me feel suicidal. I was fit, healthy, energetic and active and all of a sudden, my life just changed and I was struggling to walk! It took a long time to even get an appointment with the GP so I went to Tim Wood Healthcare when friends suggested that osteopathy might help. I saw Lauren who made me feel so much better. She treated me with care and compassion and even though osteopathy did not cure me, spending 30 minutes with her twice a month and talking to her about my health and life, made me feel great. She is calm, empathetic and a true professional. I felt pampered during the sessions and left the clinic in a much better mental state. Thank you for all you have done for me and for showing your joy when I got better.

I went to Tim Wood Healthcare with a back problem. I received excellent service from Alix and Carl, they where both very knowledgeable and explained everything clearly. I loved that they managed my expectations and they provide after care tips as well as exercises I needed to do. I was in extreme pain when I went in the first time and after a few sessions with them both I was able to move more. Thank you both so much and will definitely recommend your services and will be back for maintenance.

Went to the clinic in a lot of pain from a back injury. After seeing other reviews praising Lauren, at least one mentioning she was gentle, I booked an appointment. Last thing I felt I needed was someone cracking my back! The other reviews were spot on! She was gentle, professional, and caring. Managing to get the pain under control, and recommending some gentle exercises to do at home to help things along between sessions. Within a short space of time I was feeling much better. The clinic is very nice, clean and tidy, easy to find. Parking hasn't been an issue. Would highly recommend to anyone
