Located in the Medway region of Kent is Capstone Farm Country Park, a green space situated across 114 hectares that has evolved from a traditional agricultural landscape into a popular public park. The area was dense with agricultural developments, with Capstone Valley and the surrounding areas primarily used for farming and grazing, maintaining a rural character that has shaped its development into a country park. By the late 1900s, the demand for green spaces in the growing urban area of Medway was rising, with local developments looking for green spaces to adapt into local community park spaces. The grounds were acquired by Medway Council and plans were put in place to provide local residents with a space for relaxing, community events and sports activities. Keeping the original scenic beauty of the Capstone Valley, the park was officially opened in the 1980s, and remains a popular local space for public enjoyment.
Today the park offers sports fields, a fishing lake and woodland, with cycle paths and trails running through, providing a perfect place to enjoy a stroll, a jog, a cycle or just a relaxing picnic with family and friends. The park is also a hotspot for local wildlife as it is home to numerous bird species, insects and mammals. Capstone Park features unique and diverse ecology, including wetland, grassland and wooded areas, making it an important natural habitat as well as a recreation space for residents. The park is an ever-present fixture in local events, proving visitors and residents a beautiful local space to enjoy.
